ABOUT COMPASS NURSERY

providing a happy, caring and stimulating atmosphere

The nursery has been established since 1990 and was purchased by the present management in 1993. In September 2003 our superb 21st Century Baby unit was developed and where our children from 0 to 2 years play and experiment.

Compass Nursery has become well established in North Hull and is situated under a block of flats, adjacent to the hairdresser and community centre.

The Nursery is all on the ground floor in open plan style.

A private housing estate surrounds the Nursery with a variety of houses, bungalows and flats. We often take the children for walks looking at the gardens and visiting the Mobile Library.

We are registered for children between the ages of 0 and 5 years.

We are always flexible and help each individual family with their childcare, but can only offer places when we have vacancies. The children can attend a.m. or p.m. with or without meals, full day’s full time, term time on the education grant with added meals hours to give extended time.

New legislation has been taken in our stride and we have been very pleased that our OFSTED reports recommend 3 years before their next visit. We are now working towards the Early Years Foundation Stage

There is one local primary school which many of our children will attend. We are close to another large housing estate which has a number of primary schools and some of our children attend from that area and eventually feed into those schools.

OFSTED

We are really pleased with our OFSTED reports and we are working towards the Early Years Foundation Stage. This framework  is based around four themes, each of which is linked to an important principle:

A unique child – every child should be helped to become a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

Positive relationships – children should be encouraged to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.

Enabling environments – care and learning must recognise that the environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s development and learning.

Learning and development – children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates, but all areas of learning and development are equally important and interconnected.
